You will also be given the chance to visit Wilpattu National Park and Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Once you land on the beautiful island of Sri Lanka, a representative of Connaissance de Ceylan will meet and assist in transferring you to Kalpitiya, your first destination which is known to be one of the most beautiful coastal areas in the Western Province of Sri Lanka and a great marine sanctuary too. By evening, you will visit the Kalpitiya fishing village and later return to the hotel for the night.
After a hearty breakfast, you will travel to the ancient city of Anuradhapura whilst visiting Wilpattu National Park on your way. Wilpattu National Park is known as the “Land of Lakes” and is one of the oldest national parks in Sri Lanka. The park is also popular for its leopard population so keep a keen eye out for this predator! You are set to reach the city of Anuradhapura, a key archaeological site, and the first ancient capital of Sri Lanka for about 1400 years by evening.
The next day begins with a journey to Jaffna, where you will be left at your own leisure after arriving at the hotel. Jaffna is the capital city of the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. Rest and relax in preparation for the day ahead.
Following a scrumptious breakfast, you will be taken on a visit to the Nallur Kandaswamy Temple; a Hindu temple built in 948. Nallur was built with four entrances with gates and served as the capital of Jaffna kings. Your evening will consist of a visit to the Nagadeepa Temple, an ancient Buddhist temple which is amongst the country’s holiest shrines. End the day by heading back to your hotel to unwind.
Get ready to be transferred to Trincomalee after breakfast. Once you reach the destination, you will be taken on a tour of Trincomalee city; a significant port city in the East Coast of Sri Lanka. The city is also known for the ancient Koneswaram Temple. By evening, you will check-in to your hotel and get much needed rest.
On day six, you will be taken to the beautiful little town of Pasikudah. You are free to spend time at your leisure after checking-in to the hotel, where the shimmering waters of the Indian Ocean welcome you to the East.
If you couldn’t get enough of the beach the previous evening, don’t worry. This day is dedicated entirely for relaxing on the golden sandy beaches while soaking up the warm sun rays. If you wish, partake in a few water sports that are offered at the resort.
Day eight will consist of a journey to Polonnaruwa, a medieval capital of Sri Lanka. Visit ancient wonders of Buddhist sculptures and other remnants from the past, especially the Gal Vihara temple with its famous rock carvings of Buddha and Parakrama Samudra, a vast manmade reservoir. By evening, you will travel to Sigiriya, while stopping for an elephant ride in Habarana; after which, check-in to your hotel and enjoy some down time.
Begin your next day with a transfer to Dambulla where you will visit the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple that was built in the first century BC. The temple is home to the island’s most outstanding collection of Buddha images in Sri Lanka. Later, journey to the hill city of Kandy, where you will visit a spice garden in Matale and a batik factory. Following your check-in at your Kandy hotel, you will be taken on a city tour in the evening; this will include a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic and the Gem Museum. Conclude your day by being entertained by a cultural dance performance in the city.
Take a stroll through the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya after breakfast and then travel to Ramboda. The gardens which are home to a variety of species of plants and flowers are located near the longest river in Sri Lanka, the Mahaweli River. Prepare yourself for the ultimate tea experience as by evening, you will be taken on a tour of a tea factory and a tea plantation.
As your journey in Sri Lanka comes to an end, get ready to head back to the airport after breakfast.
