Nalanda Gedige is a puzzling archaeological site found close to Matale where the structure resembles a south Indian Hindu temple but also contains various Buddhist influences. Archaeologists attribute the structure to between the 8th and 10th century, these dark times where south Indian invaders ruled the land is perhaps why this temple is a mix of two contrasting architectural styles.
