The journey to Galle is along the palm-fringed beaches passing Hikkaduwa with its beautiful “coral gardens” and exotic tropical fish. Visit the Dutch Fort and the city of Galle. As you walk through the streets you can see strong Dutch influences in the architecture, along with some old British residences and various mosques with Arabic touches. After breakfast, proceed to visit the Peradeniya Botanical Garden.

The Royal Botanical Garden at Peradeniya was established in 1821 and now covers 140 acres, snuggled in a loop in the Mahaweli River, the longest river in Sri Lanka. Its primary purpose was the testing and acclimatizing of plants for commercial use in Sri Lanka. Today the Gardens have one of the largest collections of flora from sub-tropical climates around the world.

Millennium Elephant Foundation is an organization and charity set up to rescue and care for captive Asian elephants in Sri Lanka. The foundation is situated on a 15-acre estate by the name of Samaragiri, which is located 10 km northwest of Kegalle, within the Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka’s second city is Kandy, a beautiful historical city in the citadel of the country.

It is not only known for its great kings who ruled the city for almost 225 years independently until the British took over in 1815, but it is also the place where the Sacred Tooth of Lord Buddha is laid in a magnificent temple. The incomparable Perahera celebration, a procession of more than 100 elephants, is held every August here.

Afterwards, proceed to Sigiriya.

SIGIRIYA POLONNARUWA MINNERIYA SIGIRIYA Meals (B & D)

After breakfast, proceed to visit the city of Polonnaruwa.

Polonnaruwa was established as the capital city after the fall of Anuradhapura and is known as the medieval capital of Sri Lanka. Polonnaruwa contains the ruins of some of the masterpieces of Buddhist sculpture and remarkable feats of engineering that were well ahead of their time. Most outstanding amongst these is the Gal Vihara temple with its famous rock carvings of the Buddha and Parakrama Samudra, a vast man-made reservoir covering an area of over 23 kilometres.

On the way back, visit the Minneriya National Park/ Kaudulla National Park / Eco Park in double cabs or Indian jeeps (Maximum 06 pax per jeep).

It is a recently declared national park, which is in the north central province. It’s on the banks of the Minneriya reservoir, which was built in the 4th century A.C. Minneriya is a hide-out for many elephants, where you could see herds of elephants approximately 50 to 60 elephants in a herd. Apart from elephants, it is a habitant for migrant and resident-built species like Grey heron, Open built storks and Painted storks. And also, you could see 3 different species of monkeys like Silica makake, Pink faced leaf monkey and Grey Langer.

Overlooking the Kottiyar Bay, Trincomalee is one of the main centers of Tamil speaking culture on the island. The city is home to the famous ancient Koneswaram temple alluded to in its historic Tamil name Thirukonamalai from which its anglicized name is derived and has been a sea port that has played a major role in the maritime and international trading history of Sri Lanka.
